History of the Carillon Miami:
Going through some transformations over the years, this hotel was formerly known as the Canyon Ranch Hotel and Spa Miami Beach. However, the Carillon originally opened it’s doors 1958 and it was famous for lavish parties, an opulent lifestyle. it was named hotel of the year in 1958 making the architectural designer Norman Giller most likely very proud. Norman Giller was back in the days the celebrated “father” of Miami Modern (MiMo) architecture, a fun and modern style back then. The MiMo architecture was quite popular in the Miami area until the seventies. In the eighties however, the Carillon went through a down cycle and finally in 1998, the city approved a massive redevelopment plan. With this, there were also two large towers on the north and one on the south added, besides restoring of course the original building to its former glory. The MiMo style gave some guidance and makes the hotel to this day unique. The project was completed in 2008. Canyon Ranch, an operator of wellness health resorts, came in to manage the property. With this came the new name of Canyon Ranch Hotel and Spa. Over the years, changes happened again and in 2015, the hotel was purchased by Z Capital and it’s goal was to revive the iconic Carillon brand that serves the luxury wellness market. Upgrades were intended to make the guest experience even more luxurious and better. Ira Giller was spearheading the renovation project in continuance of his father’s legacy. With its original name again, the Carillon Miami Wellness Resort stays true to its brand: A wellness oasis! It is an exquisite beachfront hotel offering inspiring healthy living opportunities in a stunning luxury hotel setting.
